KITUO CHA SHERIA (hereinafter referred to as “KITUO”) is the oldest national legal aid organization in Kenya having been established in 1973. The Key area of focus is providing access to justice for the poor and marginalized communities within the Republic of Kenya.
Vision: A society of Justice and Equity for All.
Mission: To empower the poor and marginalized people to effectively access justice and realize their human and people’s rights.
History and Status: Legal aid and human rights non-governmental organization established on 9th July 1973, registered by the NGO Coordination Board.
Core business: KITUO exists to empower the poor and marginalized people in Kenya to effectively access justice and enjoy their human rights. Our major activities include provision of in-house legal aid services, legal education and legal aid clinics, public interest litigation, research, advocacy, networking, community outreach and mobilization, as well as empowering communities with paralegal skills and linking them to formal legal services.

This is in response to the safety measures outlined by H.E. The President of The Republic of Kenya and our commitment and obligation to support the government’s effort in safeguarding the nation against the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.
We want to express solidarity with those most impacted or potentially impacted by the pandemic, including members from poor and marginalized communities leading struggles for human rights and fellow civil society members in close alliance with and to those communities in Kenya.
